Order terms
These three figures hold for every line. They are what you need before asking for a quotation.
- Minimum order
- 2,000 units per product For labelled products. Where the can itself is printed it is between 5,000 and 24,000 units, because the printing plate is made once.
- Sample
- 1 week For a product from the existing range and for a new formulation alike.
- Lead time
- 4 to 6 weeks Counted from the approval of the formula and the label.
Four constraints that set a car care formula
The surface the product goes onto is painted, coated and expensive. In car care the formula is built around not damaging that surface before it is built around cleaning power.
Paint and coating safety
An acidic wheel cleaner dulls a coated rim, and a strongly alkaline shampoo shortens the life of a ceramic coating. The pH range, the dwell time and the rinsing requirement are decided together.
Foam and dosing
A shampoo that works through a foam cannon is not the same product as one that works in a bucket. Foam thickness, dwell on the panel and dilution ratio are measured at the sample stage.
Water hardness and spotting
A product that dries in hard water leaves lime spots, and that is where the complaints come from. If the hardness of the region it will be sold in is known, the formula is adjusted for it.
Channel and pack
The 500 ml trigger spray on a shelf and the 20 litre drum a detailer buys ask for different concentrations. If one formula is going into both, that is planned from the start.

Sales channel
Retail shelf, detailing and wash bays, or both. Pack, concentration and fragrance all follow from this.

Concentrate or ready to use
A concentrate ships cheaply and stores longer, a ready to use product cannot be diluted wrongly. Both can live in one range.

Pack and volume
Trigger spray, drum, barrel or aerosol. Aerosol filling is a separate job and has a page of its own.

Fragrance and colour
In car care the scent is part of the brand. You can pick from stock fragrances or describe your own.

The country the product is sold in sets the label language and the conformity documents.

- What is private label car care chemical manufacturing?
- It is having the formulation, filling, labelling and packaging of car care products you sell under your own brand carried out at a manufacturing partner's plant. You do not have to run a laboratory or a filling line.
- Do you make for retail or for detailing bays?
- For both. The same formula can be produced from a retail trigger spray to a 20 litre drum with different concentrations and packs. Telling us the channel at the start shortens the process.
- Do you make concentrates?
- Yes. A concentrate lowers freight cost and takes less shelf space. The dilution ratio is set by the method the product is used with and is stated plainly on the label.
- Can the products be used on ceramic coated and waxed cars?
- A coating-safe product is formulated separately. A strongly alkaline shampoo shortens the life of a coating, so if you want a coating-safe range you need to say so at the sample stage.
- Can I bring my own formula?
- Yes. You can start from our existing range or bring your own formula. It is assessed in our laboratory and, where needed, adjustments are proposed.
