These three figures hold for every line. They are what you need before asking for a quotation.
- Minimum order
- 2,000 units per product For labelled products. Where the can itself is printed it is between 5,000 and 24,000 units, because the printing plate is made once.
- Sample
- 1 week For a product from the existing range and for a new formulation alike.
- Lead time
- 4 to 6 weeks Counted from the approval of the formula and the label.
Four constraints that set an industrial formula
In industrial cleaning a product is chosen against the conditions of one plant. Two degreasers with the same name give different results on different surfaces.
Alkaline or acidic
Grease and soot come off with an alkaline product, scale and rust with an acidic one. The two do not combine in one product, and what a plant needs is usually both. That split is made when the range is designed.
Dilution ratio
Products run anywhere from one in ten to one in two hundred. The ratio sets both the cost and the freight, and with a concentrate most of what is shipped stops being water.
Surface compatibility
A strongly alkaline product dulls aluminium and galvanised steel, and a strong acid marks stainless. Which surface the product meets draws the boundary of the formula.
Foam level
Hand cleaning wants foam, an automatic scrubber does not. The same active can be formulated low-foaming, and that is a separate piece of work.

Where it is used
Metalworking shop, food plant, hotel and restaurant, vehicle fleet or general building maintenance. Each asks for a different range.

How it is applied
By hand, through an automatic scrubber, with a pressure washer or by dipping. The foam level follows from this.

Dilution ratio
Whether the user measures by eye or runs a dosing pump matters. With a dosing pump the concentration can be higher.

Pack
Five litre drum, twenty litre drum, two hundred litre barrel or IBC. The pack changes both the price and the shipping.

The country the product is sold in sets the label language and the conformity documents.

- It is having the formulation, filling, labelling and packaging of industrial cleaning chemicals you sell under your own brand carried out at a manufacturing partner's plant. You do not have to run a laboratory.
- Concentrate or ready to use?
- Either. A concentrate lowers freight and storage cost, a ready to use product cannot be diluted wrongly. We decide based on whether the end user has a dosing pump.
- Do you make products for food production areas?
- For products aimed at food areas, the rinsing requirement and residue limits are part of the formula and are stated plainly on the label. Enquiries of this kind are assessed against the rules of the target market.
- Do you make biocidal products?
- Disinfectants and other biocidal products fall under a separate authorisation regime, and every market has its own approval process. If you have an enquiry of this kind we work through the process and the paperwork with you.
- Which packs do you fill?
- Five and twenty litre drums, two hundred litre barrels and IBC tanks are the common options. Small retail packs can be filled from the same range.
